Folks,

Fishing questions keep coming in, but reports have not been. I have only spoken with a few folks and they were split between the anglers catching and those who were not. Both groups were using similar techniques but with drastically different results. The one thing that was different between the groups was the hours of fishing and the day time temperatures. Late evening to night has been good, but with the high day time temperature afternoons have not been fishing well.

Fall is here but the temperatures are still pretty hot. September usually is the start of fall fishing here but it might be delayed if the temperatures remain summer like.

As always you can call the office 9575) 759-3255 or e-mail jicarillafishqs@gmail.com if you have specific questions about the fishing.

The Fish Crew will be conducting fall monitoring of the recreational lakes in October as we normally do. I know folks want answers about size of fish and quantity in certain lakes sooner, but we conduct those samples when water temperatures have subsided which reduces the stress on the fish. As always I'll post about some of the results of those efforts when they are completed.

Hope all is well,

J.

Folks,

The lack of reporting on fishing might have something to do with the full swing monsoon conditions we have had over the last few weeks. Of course we need the moisture but it sure makes putting in a day of fishing difficult.

The temperatures are finally coming down and fall fishing is just around the corner, as someone reminded me today summer is basically over.

Time flies when you are having fun I guess.

I have been getting a lot of questions about the aquatic vegetation at the lakes, and I can say that Mundo weeds are lower than normal for this time of year which is great, Embom is about normal for this time of year.

If you have any questions you can reach the Fish Crew at jicarillafishqs@gmail.com or at the office (575) 759-3255
